Ingredients:
85g of plain oats
1 cup of milk (I use a small cup, as I don't like my oats too watery!)
1 apple
Ground cinnamon
Sprinkle of brown sugar
Fresh fruit and/or granola
I begin by peeling and chopping my apple into little chunks. I use a normal apple, and I don't cook it as I like the sweet crunch it gives you when you bite into it in the morning, however if you prefer your apples soft then you can simmer them for a few minutes with 2 tablespoons of water.
After I have dealt with the apple, I mix my oats and milk together and add the chopped apple to them. I stir this round three or four times to make sure the apple is well divided into the mixture. This is the point when I add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the oats and stir this in until it is all absorbed.
Sometimes I add a sprinkle of brown sugar, but this is optional because the apples let off a sweetness to the mixture too. I then put this into the fridge and leave it overnight, which is usually 8-10 hours on a school day!
When I get it out of the fridge, I like to mix it again and then serve up the amount I want into a sundae glass or a bowl. I then add some fresh fruit on top like some strawberries or banana with some honey granola and sultanas. I find this is so delicious and filling, it lasts me right up to lunch time!
Have you tried this recipe before?
